Licensing Knowledge, Delivered.

Microsoft Taps EventBuilder for Channel Training at scale

Introduction

Microsoft is one of the world's most recognized and respected technology companies, known for its commitment to innovation, security, and ability to empower people and organizations to achieve more. Within its global partner ecosystem, Microsoft invests heavily in education and enablement, ensuring that its channel partners have the knowledge, tools, and confidence needed to deliver value across complex licensing scenarios.

To support these efforts, the Commercial Licensing team develops and delivers training programs that translate Microsoft's robust licensing models into accessible, actionable learning for partners worldwide. Their goal is to equip every partner with the clarity and expertise they need to serve customers effectively, no matter the scale, region, or solution.

Challenge

Needs and Wants

Microsoft's Commercial Licensing group was tasked with delivering a complex, content-heavy training initiative to partners across the globe. But executing a high-volume virtual program at this scale, without overburdening internal teams, was no small feat. They needed more than just software; they needed strategic support to pull it all together.

Key challenges included:

Large Scale In-Event Technical Support >>
Delivering smooth experiences across time zones meant having live support at every session. They couldn't afford to split attention between content delivery and tech issues, especially with hundreds of partners depending on these trainings to stay current.

Centralized Content and Registration Hub >>
With multiple sessions targeting a range of audiences, they needed a centralized place where partners could register, access live and on-demand content, and stay informed about upcoming sessions. Fragmented access points were creating confusion and increasing support requests.

Customized Reporting to Support ROI >>
Tracking attendance alone wasn't enough. The team needed detailed reporting by region, event type, and viewer behavior to help justify future investments and fine-tune future programming.

Customized Event Communications >>
Standard confirmation emails weren't cutting it. Microsoft wanted every touchpoint (from registration confirmation to post-event follow-up) to reflect their brand, voice, and high standard of professionalism.

Cloud Hosting for Event Recordings >>
On-demand access was essential. They required a secure, scalable solution to host and share event recordings long after the live sessions ended. They needed visibility into who was watching and which content was resonating with their audiences.

With limited bandwidth to manage these demands internally, Microsoft turned to us to provide full-spectrum event support.

Results

The partnership between Microsoft's Commercial Licensing team and EventBuilder delivered far more than just smooth operations, it helped Microsoft turn a sprawling program into a finely tuned training engine.

Together, we launched and supported:

400+ Events
>>

Across global time zones, formats, and content tiers. Each one managed with precision and professionalism by our team.

180,000+ Registrants
>>

Through branded, intuitive registration pages and coordinated communications that made it easy for partners to find and sign up for the sessions most relevant to them.

63,000+ Live Attendees
>>

With live, professional support at every turn, ensuring smooth delivery, responsive moderation, and issue-free access, even at scale.

230,000 On-Demand Views
>>

Thanks to automatic cloud-hosted recordings and resource-rich listings, partners had continued access to training long after the live sessions ended.

What these numbers don't show, but was just as impactful, was the steady collaboration that kept everything running smoothly. From early strategy calls to last-minute presenter tech-checks, we became part of their team, complete with shared spreadsheets, inside jokes, and emergency backup links. We adapted to new needs as they arose, kept detailed records, and ensured that even as the program grew in scope, no detail fell through the cracks.

With EventBuilder's technology and event experts managing the full event lifecycle, Microsoft's Commercial Licensing team stayed focused on their core mission: delivering meaningful, accessible licensing education to partners around the world.
